IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO

Categories Human Nature, Lifestyle

Love her nerve, love her heart,
always be her biggest fan,
love her just the way she is:
allow her light to shine bright
because it will echo back your way;
but mutual must it be
she must reciprocate.

Love him whether moneyed, famous,
celebrity, fashion icon, or not.
Love him raw, tender, mad, and silly;
love him for what he is;
but mutual must it be
he must reciprocate.

Pissed off you may be once in a while;
dark clouds and temptations may show up;
and ruffle the lion in you.
Do not be quick to anger,
calm yourself down
and tread humbly as a dove;
Be the man, bring back the smiles
and joy once more;
but mutual must it be
she must reciprocate.

Consider the different
upbringing experiences
as an opportunity and not
a source for disagreements.
Avoid violence;
avoid uttering an unkind word,
apologize if the word slips off the tongue;
but mutual must it be
both of you must reciprocate.

Let none be a prisoner of the other;
appreciate the weaknesses of each other
and convert them into strengths.
Accept that in the game of love
you win some, you lose some.
Focus only on the good in each other;
cultivate forgiveness and patience;
but mutual must it be
both of you must reciprocate.

Regularly revive past sweet times,
romantic episodes, and good memories;
tell her she is pretty,
tell him he is smart;
make each other feel loved, and wanted;
cherish each other’s unique talents,
abilities and strengths;
give each other benefit of the doubt
and second chances;
but mutual must it be
both of you must reciprocate.

Over and above the love,
strive to be truly best friends;
two hearts that are
wrapped firmly around each other.
Acknowledge how lucky and wealthy
you are just because of having each other.
Go out and, together, conquer the world
fly to your horizon,
set your sights on eternal companionship
the best way each of you knows how;
but mutual must it be
both of you must reciprocate.

Create many together times
to hold onto one another,
to be each other’s support system,
to mind each other’s backs,
to be there for one another;
But create alone times too;
give each other space
to once in a while drift away,
consult and rejuvenate
their mind, soul, and spirit;
but mutual must it be
both of you must be in agreement.

I guess what I’m trying to say is,
find it in your heart
to hang out, hang in there, and hang on;
roll-on together
down the streets of love
unconditionally but in mutual harmony,
because ‘it takes two to tango’.

I am an epic introvert, who quickly becomes an open book when I pen what’s in my significantly fertile mind; fertile as a result of bombardment by realities that are continuously captured by my inquisitive eyes, ears which are constantly rubbing the ground, through constant reading, and through dreaming too.

Writing provides an opportunity to ‘say’ what my unapologetic quiet mouth will not say; which not only soothes me, but also bequeaths to me a relief, a release, and a hope that the written words will change the world, even if only one person at a time.

And so should you seek, that’s where to find me; deeply tucked inside the blankets of reading, seeing, listening, dreaming, and then writing.
