I Thank You, My Creator

For prodding the mind often
to remind my lips
to speak forth Your praise;
I thank You, Lord.

For navigating my hands
to perform Your bidding
even when I feel lonely,
downtrodden, hopeless
and weighed down;
Alhamdulillah.

For guiding my feet
to swiftly run in Your ways
when I have been abused
and my dreams have been shattered;
Bhagavaan ko dhanyavaad
भगवान को धन्यवाद दिया.

For urging my maimed, crying heart
to beat heartily, to rise again
and to show the rest of its best
even when it has been battered,
numbed, hurt, and scarred;
Ninakushukuru Mola.

For opening my eyes
to watch out for my mind
and to see You only
even when all seems gloomy, chaotic,
impossible, impartial, broken, and unfair;
Ũrokumio Mũrungu.

For never letting me down;
for being my Shepherd
through the great times;
and through the troubled, dark,
tumultuous and turbulent times
despite my inadequacies, anxieties,
doubts, and weaknesses.

I thank You, Lord.

I am an epic introvert, who quickly becomes an open book when I pen what’s in my significantly fertile mind; fertile as a result of bombardment by realities that are continuously captured by my inquisitive eyes, ears which are constantly rubbing the ground, through constant reading, and through dreaming too.

Writing provides an opportunity to ‘say’ what my unapologetic quiet mouth will not say; which not only soothes me, but also bequeaths to me a relief, a release, and a hope that the written words will change the world, even if only one person at a time.

And so should you seek, that’s where to find me; deeply tucked inside the blankets of reading, seeing, listening, dreaming, and then writing.
