I Choose Optimism

Categories Human Nature, Lifestyle, Meditation

How sweet it is to relish
the radiant side of life only
and to continue to cruise joyously
on the path to my horizon.
Just like the Saints did.

How gratifying it is to savour
the goodness in everything I see
and to continue to relish
the awesomeness of my friends,
family, colleagues, and neighbours.
Just like the wildebeest.

How endearing it is to angelically fly high
to the comfort zone,
beyond the ravages of maladies, volcanoes,
tremors and quakes of life.
Just like the eagle.

How delightful it is to melodically kayak,
surf and ride
on the bombarding waves, hurricanes,
and storms of life.
Just like the dolphin.

How appealing it is to reverently remain
calm, cool, and collected
as the sun ruthlessly roasts,
scorches and bakes.
Just like the camel.

How charming it is to majestically bask
in gusty winds and long,
chilly and frosty days.
Just like the polar bear

How precious it is to patiently witness
babies grow into young adults,
leave the crib, and become honest, reliable
and responsible citizens of the world.
Just like dik-diks.

How healing it is to mingle in and cherish
the wonderful nature that surrounds me;
the green trees, the beautiful blooming flowers,
the singing birds, the blue skies, the sun,
the lakes, the oceans, the mountains, and
the dark nights, beautifully lit by
the glowing stars and the moon.

How divine it is to choose
to only see the glitter and aurora
when life throws stones and spears my way;
to forgive quickly, and to love truly.
Just like Jesus did, on the cross.

How cute it is to stop, look back, look around,
and just revel in the positive side of life.

I choose perpetual optimism.

I am an epic introvert, who quickly becomes an open book when I pen what’s in my significantly fertile mind; fertile as a result of bombardment by realities that are continuously captured by my inquisitive eyes, ears which are constantly rubbing the ground, through constant reading, and through dreaming too.

Writing provides an opportunity to ‘say’ what my unapologetic quiet mouth will not say; which not only soothes me, but also bequeaths to me a relief, a release, and a hope that the written words will change the world, even if only one person at a time.

And so should you seek, that’s where to find me; deeply tucked inside the blankets of reading, seeing, listening, dreaming, and then writing.
