“Good morning,
As you got up this morning,
I watched and hoped you would talk to me,
even if it was just a few words,
asking about my opinion
or thanking me for something good
that happened in your life yesterday.
But I noticed you were too busy,
trying to find the right outfit to wear.
I waited to hear from you
when you ran around the house getting ready,
I thought there would be a few minutes
for you to stop and say hello,
……. but you never slowed down.
I waited again to hear from you;
at one point you sat on a chair,
grabbed the phone and opened
your social media account,
I still waited to hear from you.
Then I saw you spring to your feet.
I was excited because I thought
you wanted to talk to me
but you ran outside
and drove way at high speed.
I watched you at work
and I waited patiently all day long
to hear from you
but I guess you were too busy
to say anything to me.
At lunch, you looked around;
maybe you felt embarrassed
to talk to me;
and that is probably why
you didn’t bow your head.
You glanced three or four tables over
and you noticed some of your friends
talking to me briefly before they ate,
but you didn’t.
There was still more time left,
and I hoped that you would
spend some of it with me.
After work you went home
and had lots of things to do.
After they were done,
you turned on the TV
and spent many hours watching a movie.
and eating your meal.
I waited again to hear from you
but you didn’t talk to me.
At bedtime you were totally exhausted.
After you said goodnight to your family
you plopped into bed and fell asleep in no time.
I had so many things to tell you today;
we could have had so much fun
and accomplished so much together.
You may not realize
that I am always there for you;
that I love you so much
that I’ve got patience,
more than you will ever know;
that I will wait until you talk to me,
that I’ll wait for a nod, a prayer,
a thought, or a thank you.
Well, may be tomorrow when you get up
after a good night’s sleep,
you will talk to me.
Once again, I will wait,
with nothing but love;
hoping that then,
you will spare some time
for me.
