What if winter
visits Kenya next year,
with its long chilly and frosty days!!
Will it find us ready? With heated systems
to allow transport, with adequate firewood
to heat houses, and enough stocks of
tuna, water, and groceries. What if it,
what if it comes; comes with snow,
falling like glitter, and trees slumber
with leaves shed to conserve nutrients.

Will it find us ready? With
winterized homes and cars; and
enough clothes to keep everyone
warm, such as tightly woven, wind-
resistant coat or jacket; inner layers
of light, warm clothing; mittens; hats;
scarves; and waterproof boots. What
if winter visits Kenya next year with
gardens and shambas covered with
a blanket of white snow and with windy,
icy and freezing mornings. Will it
find us ready to continue
operating our open-air
markets; and clear our
snow piled roads?

And what if the winter
will be followed by roasting
temperatures? Will we have adequate
and appropriate air-conditioning systems
in place for use by everyone to cool off?

Climate Change is Real. It is not about

if the effects will reach us,

but when.

I am an epic introvert, who quickly becomes an open book when I pen what’s in my significantly fertile mind; fertile as a result of bombardment by realities that are continuously captured by my inquisitive eyes, ears which are constantly rubbing the ground, through constant reading, and through dreaming too.

Writing provides an opportunity to ‘say’ what my unapologetic quiet mouth will not say; which not only soothes me, but also bequeaths to me a relief, a release, and a hope that the written words will change the world, even if only one person at a time.

And so should you seek, that’s where to find me; deeply tucked inside the blankets of reading, seeing, listening, dreaming, and then writing.
