Instinct, it must be;
that’s the only way to explain
what goes through the mind of a boy,
regardless of age;
with or without a beard.
There’s never a time to waste;
mischief must be explored, analyzed
and implemented with perfect precision;
especially when their fertile minds say,
“You are much stronger
than you think you are..”
Whether it be making dads crazy
when mum is not home;
when they mysteriously miss no opportunity
to make guns out of their wee wee and pee
straight into the mouth of an unsuspecting
dad who’s struggling to change their diapers;
or whether it be causing mums to scream
when they decide to entertain themselves
by emulating the moves by Spiderman,
when atop stair rails and cot doors
the boys perch.
There’s never a dull day for a boy’s mum.
Whether dad or mum
one quickly learns that for boys
safe and fun don’t co-exist.
In their heads, boys define “danger” as “fun”.
If it’s safe, it’s not fun
and if it’s fun, it’s often not safe.
…… and finally,
boys never grow up.
They just get bigger.
The amazing boys turn
into good, adorable,
and irresistible men
