Somewhere inside my tall,
dark and handsome body
lies a brain.
The two, my body and brain,
are interdependent and constitute
my hardware, so to speak.

Though it brags that it
does the thinking for me;
my brain is useless without my mind,
which is its software, its operating system,
that processes information
and lessons learned through the years.

My mind however acknowledges
that all it can do
is to collate what it learned.
In order to digest and analyze
so as to determine my essence,
my “self”, my “ego”
it needs to consult my soul.

It is my soul that makes use of
memories that are “mine”,
such as my name, my thoughts,
my ambitions, my personal traits,
and my religious beliefs,
to create my identity.

My boastful heart
loves to take undeserved credit,
but it is with the soul that I reason, think,
choose, remember, and make decisions.
It is my soul that makes me experience
emotions like joy, sorrow, relief, anger,
happiness, love, and compassion.

In order to correctly interpret my identity though,
my soul must find the core of my being,
which is my spirit; the divine driving force
that connects me directly to God
in the spiritual realm.

My mind came at the beginning of my “self”;
my soul will be the end of my “self’s” existence.
Spirit has been there since time began
and will be there even after my tall,
dark and handsome body is no more.
My soul is the medium
between my spirit and my mind.

I am an epic introvert, who quickly becomes an open book when I pen what’s in my significantly fertile mind; fertile as a result of bombardment by realities that are continuously captured by my inquisitive eyes, ears which are constantly rubbing the ground, through constant reading, and through dreaming too.

Writing provides an opportunity to ‘say’ what my unapologetic quiet mouth will not say; which not only soothes me, but also bequeaths to me a relief, a release, and a hope that the written words will change the world, even if only one person at a time.

And so should you seek, that’s where to find me; deeply tucked inside the blankets of reading, seeing, listening, dreaming, and then writing.
